I was born on Halloween in 1954. By fate or coincidence, my first daughter,
Lindsay, was my special 30th birthday present when she, also, was
born on Halloween. As anyone who knows
me or has visited my various Websites can attest, there’s just something about
Halloween babies. We have fun.
I grew up in Chicago and, except
during college at the University of Illinois (B.A. 1976), I’ve always lived
here (Highland Park is still Chicago to me.)
After graduating from Northwestern University School of Law in 1979, I
became a Trial Lawyer and confirmed what I had always felt in my heart, that I
was born to try cases.
Since opening my own office in 1986, my practice is
dedicated to enforcing plaintiffs’ rights on behalf of accident and crime
victims in serious Personal Injury matters such as Wrongful Death, Medical
Malpractice, Traumatic Brain Injury, Products Liability, Auto/Truck Accidents,
Nursing Home Abuse or Neglect, Inadequate Security, Premises Injuries and
Workers’ Compensation. Of course, I am an active member of all local and
national Trial Bars - CBA, ISBA, ITLA and ATLA - as well as The Decalogue
Society. The Margolis Firm PC employs
two talented Associates, Todd Carcelli and Charles Candiano, who keep in close
contact with our clients as we aggressively prosecute their cases.
As Founder and Chairman of the Firefighter and EMT
Hearing Loss Litigation Group for the Association of Trial Lawyers of America
(ATLA), I am proud to lead the national litigation on behalf of thousands of America’s
heroes, all across America, against siren and emergency vehicle manufacturers.
My father, Irving Margolis, was not only a respected lawyer but a great teacher. To educate the public about injuries and their causes from dangerous drugs, defective products or medical malpractice, I created the largest injury library website on the Internet at www.il-injury.com. Following his tradition of educating the public in pursuit of justice, The Margolis Firm PC is active outside the courtroom as well. The JUSTICE ALERTS series - articles, videos, radio and cyberspace presentations - provide consumer oriented advocacy tips and current legal trends, in English and Spanish.
I spend my family life with Holly, my beautiful and
patient wife; my daughters - Lindsay and Jori; and my girlfriend, Madison the
Portuguese Water Dog. Although “the law
is a jealous mistress”, Holly shares me with another love - writing. I founded JRC PURIM PARODY PRODUCTIONS in
1996, bringing adult family members together as equals on stage with their
children at The Jewish Reconstructionist Congregation of Evanston. They call me “Mr. Purim” and “The
Shpielmeister” because I write, produce and act in full length musical comedy
parodies, known as Purim Shpiels To view
pictures of my Double Three-Peat (six hit shows), please visit my creative
website www.jordanmargolis.com. I have recently collaborated on “SHOES, AN
ORIGINAL COMICAL MUSICAL” for commercial theater. You may listen to samples of
Jack Cooley’s sensational score by downloading the promotional CD off my
website, and get updates about future performances. If you like poems, humor pieces or political commentary, there’s
plenty of that too, so scroll away.
Like the courtroom, live theatre creates an
interactive relationship with an audience and generates an electricity I find
thrilling. Like a trial, stage productions require a mix of imagination
and preparation, behind the scenes and long before. So it should come as
no surprise that I enjoy spending time back stage too as an Associates Board
Member for Northlight Theatre. (And I wouldn't be doing my job if I
didn't invite you to click on our website at www.northlight.org and visit our
beautiful theatre at the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts in Skokie.)
Oh, I also enjoy tennis, working out, photography and
reading. I no longer practice Karate,
but I received my black belt when I was 18 and founded The Japan Karate
Association of Champaign.
Lastly, although my name appears in the
acknowledgments on pg. 401 of Scott Turow’s Best Selling Novel “Personal
Injuries”, it is also noted that I bear not the remotest resemblance to Robbie
Feaver, the book's central character.
Thanks Scott, for clearing that up.
Even still, there’s just something about Halloween babies.
